Crash Casualties Count Measure

The Crash Casualties Count measure is available to power users in crashes reports. It contains the number of casualties which occured in crashes included in the report.

All results obtained from the use of this measure could be replicated with casualties reports. It is available because it facilitates acquiring casualty information for a particular set of crashes without the need to create a separate report.

When disseminating results derived from this measure it is important to avoid misunderstandings arising from severity, in particular the difference between crash and casualty severity. For instance, a serious crash which resulted in three casualties is not identical in meaning to three serious casualties resulted from the crash. This is because the former case could include slight casualties as well as serious ones, whereas the latter could not.
