The Department for Transport (often abbreviated to DfT) is the department of the British Government headed by the Secretary of State for Transport.
The Department aims to deliver a transport system that works for everyone, balancing the needs of the economy, the environment and society. To achieve these objectives objectives, DfT works with regional, local and private sector partners to deliver many of the services.
DfT was the principal development sponsor for the MAST Project.
The Highways Agency is an executive agency of DfT, managing the strategic road network on DfT's behalf.
