A measure is an array of numbers which represent useful information. As such, measures form the 'raw material' from which MAST reports are built
Measures are created by summarising raw data to conform with dimensions. When measures have been processed in this way, they provide users with information in a very efficient manner. Processed measures are stored in data cubes.

Measures in MAST
In MAST, a separate data cube is used to store each variety of commonly used road safety and demographic information. Each cube contains more than one useful measure.
The cubes and the useful measures they contain are:
- Casualties cube
- Count of casualties - the Casualties Measure
- Average casualty distance from home
- Crashes cube
- Count of crashes - the Crashes Measure
- Sum of casualties resulting from crashes
- Population cube
- Sum of population
- Vehicles cube
- Count of vehicles - the Vehicles Measure
- Average driver distance from home
Changing the measure
To change which measure is displayed in a report:
- Click the Series (Columns) tab
- Click the Measures button
- Clear the check box for the current measure
- Select the check box for the desired measure
- Click OK
Notes
- It is advisable to have only one measure selected at a time
- Only the measures listed above are likely to provide meaningful results
