Mosaic, published by Experian, is a socio-demographic classification system covering the whole of the United Kingdom. It is intended to to provide an accurate and comprehensive view of citizens and their needs by describing them in terms of demographics, lifestyle, culture and behaviour.
Mosaic uses data from a wide range of public and private sources. It is used to enable policy decisions, communications activity, resources strategies and marketing activity across the public and private sectors.
Mosaic 7 classified the community represented by each UK postcode into one of 15 Groups and 66 Types, where group embraced between 3 and 6 types. Previous versions of Mosaic use different classifications, derived in a similar manner.
